What Is Anxiety Depression

Anxiety depression disorder or bipolar disorder is a complex condition to face with it. Not only does it affect your ability to think clearly and use careful judgment, but it also affect your emotional well-being. Normal habits, like eating and sleeping are also adversely affected. The symptoms for anxiety depression disorder vary from individual to individual, but usually include feelings of frustrations and agitation. Most people complain of feeling restless, and mindless, and pacing is a common symptom as is the overwhelming feeling of being ‘keyed up’. The source of bipolar disorder is unknown but researchers say that most people tend to bottle up anxiety within them. These disorganized and racing thoughts build up and explode like a volcanic eruption. Stress is generally the main trigger for depressive episodes in people suffering from anxiety depression disorder. Stress generally leads to anxiety, which in turn can lead to severe depression – two of the main symptoms of someone suffering from bipolar disorder.

The treatment for anxiety and depression disorder varies from individual to individual due to the levels of severity and underlying causes. Treatment entirely depends on prior diagnosis and evaluation and includes a combination of medication, group therapy or psychotherapy. Some common methods of treatment for anxiety and depression disorder are Medications, Psychotherapy and Lifestyle changes. Antidepressants are generally described, which are used to soothe the neuro transmitters in the brain so that anxiety and depression to an extent are relieved. Be it the creative or verbal type, psychotherapy is based on many therapeutic systems like psychodynamic psychotherapy, humanistic, systemic, integrated, cognitive behavioral, existential and strategic psychotherapies or it could be a combination of these systems. When treating anxiety and depression disorders, lifestyle changes are also required. From fitness and exercise regimes to dietary restrictions to improving your social life, the treatments can vary. Whatever may be the method of attacking anxiety depression, ultimately it is up to the patient suffering from this disorder – whether or not he wants to rid himself of the condition and how open he is to treatment.

Keys To Successful Meetings

It doesn't take an article in a famous business school magazine to tell us we attend a lot of meetings. Even though we find most meetings marginally productive, take longer than necessary, and some a waste of time, we still attend them. In fact we need meetings for social interactions, for an outlet and validation of our ideas, and because we expect something important, or at least useful, will be presented. Beyond the need, what makes for a satisfying meeting? What do you like about those meetings in which you walk away feeling energized, feeling it was worth the time investment? Was it because the meeting was well organized? Was it that the material was of specific interest to you? Was it that the meeting atmosphere and exchanges were positive and engaging? No doubt, all the above ideas contributed for the success of meeting.

There are three keys to meeting success, process satisfaction, content satisfaction, and psychic satisfaction. When participants believe a meeting will be well run and a process to manage the meeting will be used, there is a positive expectation for the meeting. Without process satisfaction, it is a tough task to gain content satisfaction. No matter the value of the content, if the meeting is not under control, a focus on content is difficult, or not at all. Content satisfaction begins with a useful agenda. The agenda is a roadmap that sets the stage for success in dealing with the contents of a meeting. Without a roadmap, then all paths will arise when the meeting starts, leading to a chaotic, not satisfying, experience.

The first two satisfactions address our left-brain need for order. Psychic satisfaction is clearly a right brain component. With this satisfaction we walk away feeling good about the meeting. If it is missing, we do not feel good about the meeting, even if there is Content satisfaction.

Effects, Myths and Facts Of Prescription Drugs On Teens

Prescription drug abuse is increasing yearly. The present level of abuse of particular prescription drugs bothers NIDA scientists. In 2004, about 15 million Americans of age12 and above which is 6.1 percent of the population used prescription drug for nonmedical purposes, as per the study conducted by the federal government’s Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. The prescription drugs which are mostly abused by teens are painkillers, antianxiety medications (benzodiazepines), stimulants, and steroids that are very powerful drugs and pose real health risks.

As per the study conducted by NIDA 2004, 9.3 percent of high school seniors accepted they had abused the painkiller Vicodin, which is an alarming number. Also distracting news is that 7.3 percent of 12th graders had abused benzodiazepines relatively once, 5.1 percent had abused Ritalin, and 5 percent accepted they had abused the powerful pain killer OxyContin. Moreover, teens in some communities are involved in dangerous trading affairs and picks up whatever medications they can find like old prescriptions of their own, pills from their families’ medicine cabinet and exchange them.

Generally teens have many myths regarding prescription drugs. Few of them along with facts are:
Myth: Prescription drugs are prescribed by a doctor and a pharmacy, so they are safe.
Fact: If prescription medications are not taken effectively, sensibly and carefully as how the doctor recommended, prescription medicines may land a person in the emergency room or the mortuary.

Myth: It is fine to use a prescription from the medicine cabinet which was prescribed for other person in my family.
Fact: As the medication has been prescribed, it will not indicate that it is correct and safe for all persons. Most of the prescribed medicines are suitable based on patient’s medical history, weight, allergies, etc. So, others' prescription medicines should never be used. It is not safe and considered as illegal.
