Schizophrenia is a group of severe mental disorders. A new study reveals that using marijuana causes Schizophrenia like symptoms ranging from suspiciousness and delusions that damage memory and attention. Marijuana worsens user's psychiatric symptoms with in few hours and it causes unusual thought patterns and behaviors.

Though, the user may feel better after using Marijuana but in the long run it is not good for psychotic symptoms. If any one uses marijuana in long period of time then there is a risk of developing schizophrenia.


Few symptoms of schizophrenia last to half and hour to one hour approximately, such as, suspicious, unusual thoughts, paranoia, disorder in thoughts, blunted affect, reduced spontaneity, reduction in interaction with the interviewer, problems with memory and attention. Levels of stress hormone cortisol is increased by THC.


If any teenager starts the Marijuana smoking before age of 15 , then 4 times of higher risk of developing a psychotic disorder by age of 26 is high. In fact, brain is in still developmental stage in teenage years, up to age of 20 years. It is the stage of a massive process of neural pruning. Using any drug substance affects this process and then results in long term psychological effects. It causes anxiety and depression and reduction in memory power and reduction in ability of immune system.


There are many adverse effects of marijuana and one of them is schizophrenia, because of this user has to face many psychological problems. So, you should be far away from Marijuana or other drug abuse, and you should suggest to your friends to not to use drugs.
