Importance of Green and Yellow Colors in Safety Glow Sticks

General emergency or safety glow sticks which are used for search and rescue operations and other emergency operations are in either green or yellow color. There are special reasons for using these colors for that particular operations. The intensity and the brightness exhibited by these lights also vary when compared to normal glow sticks. They glow much brighter and stay much longer than the ordinary glow sticks used for recreational purposes.

The reason for using these colors for safety and preventive situations is due to the fact that they are the brightest colors among the color spectrum and hence among the glow sticks too. Many people have a misconception that white color is the bright color among the glow sticks and in fact it is really not. The more brighter the colors are, the greater distance they can travel and hence are useful in all emergencies.

Keeping any one of them at home helps us to use them effectively in situations after natural disasters. We can use them to grab the attention of the search and rescue team as well as like the alternative sources of light since everything seems to be dark with out electricity after cyclones, hurricanes and tsunamis.

Yellow is the brightest followed by green and hence both play a major role in such situations. Even though glow sticks are available is different colors the two colors are used in various fields for different situations.
