iPod Nano to Aid for AIDS Charity

Apple is trying to use its successful Nano iPod as a weapon to fight against AIDS. It is to seek the help of activist and rock singer Bono for this.

The program named Project Red is been run successfully by the Global Fund to treat diseases like Malaria and Tuberculosis in Africa. Now it is trying to fight AIDS too. In order to fund this program, Apple officially released the red 4GB iPod nano on the last weekend of January. It can be bought for £129. The device has a capacity to store 1,000 songs, and 25,000 photos. And with a 37mm (1.5-inch) screen, the playtime for its fully charged battery is up to 24 hours.

How is it helpful for fighting AIDS? Well, every red iPod nano you purchase, Apple will donate $10 (£5.40) to the Global Fund. And the Global Fund will use it to fight AIDS in African countries.

Why just in Africa? It is because it is only here where you find around 4,100 people die each day just with AIDS.

EU Court Voids the German and British Rules Over Paid Sick Leave

A European Union court gave a judgment which almost meant this and helped many workers of European Union who lost the enjoyment of their paid leaves just because they were sick.

According to the sources, the European Union court has passed this rule in favor of workers who were denied paid leaves just because they fell sick, by their employers. It applies to all the workers of 27 nations in European Union as well as to their employers.

It said that the right to claim a paid leave cannot be eroded just because of the illness of the workers and they must be allowed to take a paid leave in some other period.

But there was a criticism on the judgment saying that this would add up to the present constraints of the employers who are already in lay off spree.

Author of Jurassic Park Died - Very Sad

To gain on the popularity, a movie has been made based on the book and it become huge hit. The author of the book ‘Michael Crichton’ died suddenly. He was courageous and battled against cancer, 66. His best-known work is Jurassic Park, capturing the DNA of dinosaurs and bringing them to life on a modern island where they run amok. He wrote many successful fictions involving microorganisms. He also received criticism for some of his scientific views.

He was a distinctive figure of entertainment business and also interested in filmmaking, television and a trained physician. Though most of his novels were involved science in them but he also wrote books on social issues like “Rising Sun.” He won an Emmy, a Peabody, a Writers Guild American Award for “ER” and many other awards.
