Types Of Operating System Software

Operating system is a program that runs on the computer and it is a software component of computer system. The major tasks of operating system are recognizing input from keyboard, sending output to the display screen, keeping track of files and directories, and controlling of devices. The purpose of operating system is to organize and control hardware and software.

The types of operating systems are:
Generally the operating systems are five types based on the computers they control and the sort of applications they support.

1. Real-Time operating system (RTOS): RTOS is a multi tasking operating system. This type of operating system has very little user-interface capability and no end user utilities. It gives quick and predictable response to events. The real-time operating systems have an event-driven and time-sharing design. Event-driven works depends upon priorities of tasks and time-sharing design works depends upon clock interrupts. The purpose of RTOS is managing the resources of computer.

2. Multi-user and single-user operating systems: The multi-user operating system allows two or more users to run program at the same time. Time-sharing system is one of the multi-user operating system. The single-user operating system allows only single user to run program at a time.

3. Multi-tasking and single-tasking operating systems: Multi-tasking allows running of more than one program at a time. The two different types of multi-tasking operating systems are pre-emptive and co-operative.
  • Pre-emptive: This type of operating system divides the CPU time and dictates one slot to each program. The salaries and Linux support pre-emptive multi-tasking.
  • Co-operative: In co-operative multi-tasking each program will give time to other program in defined manner. For example MS Windows prior to Windows 95 in co-operative multi-tasking.
In single-tasking only one program allowed running at a time.

4. Distributed operating system: The distributed operating system manages a group of independent computers and makes them appear in a single computer. The computers in a group work use the distributed operating system.

5. Embedded system: This type of operating systems is used in embedded computers. The embedded system deigned to operate in small machines like PDAs and it is more efficient system. The common examples of embedded operating system are Windows CE and Minix3.

Compressed Air Car Coming With 2010 Breeze

The Motor Development International (MDI) is a French based company planning to produce the world's first air-powered automobile for the U.S by 2010.

The compressed air car contains compressed-air engine technology. The compressed air engine contains high pressured air tanks with a specially adapted piston engine. The air car can go up to 70mph/120kmph. The one of the compressed air car model is “MiniCATS”. It is a three seater model. In addition, CitiCATS is another model of compressed air car and it is a six seater car.

The compressed air technologies are single energy compressed engine and dual energy compressed engine. The single energy compressed engine used in both MiniCATS and CitiCATS. The engine of the car will fill with compressed car and the engine tank will be made with carbon-fiber. The carbon-fiber reduces the car weight.

The new technologies, which are used in compressed air car, are a Pneumatic Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV). The PHEV will work along with electric motor to create power source. But the compressed air cars are limited to city use only.

Few Tips for Safe Use of Steroids

Some professional athletes and body builders use steroids to improve their performance. Illegal steroid use can cause severe medical problems like hypertension, kidney problems and damage to the heart and liver. Steroid will use also increases the risk of some cancers. Health care professionals generally prescribe the use of steroids in order to treat inflammation and pain related to arthritis and lupus.
  • A physician must use steroids only after the prescription. Other uses are considered as illegal, and they have more chances to cause long-term damage to the body. Steroids used by men and women will differ, as the side effects experienced in each of them is not same.
  • For patients who require only one dose of steroid medication every day, it should be taken in the morning, since it is the time body usually produces the hormone.
  • Single steroid must be taken at a time in recommended dosage of the drug. Overuse of steroids can decrease their performance on the medical condition for which it is being treated. Medication requirements must be adjusted from time to time.
  • Other medications must be taken unless physician particularly advises them, because there are many different medications, which interact with steroids. Moreover, some medical conditions can also be troubled by the use of steroids. Using steroid medications frequently weakens the immune system.
  • Consumption of omega-3 fatty acids must be increased in diet. It is very essential eat more low-fat, low-calorie and high-density foods, in order to have adequate calories every day to fulfill body's nutritional needs. The inflammatory substances of the omega-3 fatty acids present in these foods decreases chronic pain due to inflammation. This in turn, will decrease the need for prescription steroid medications.
